Effect Of Mercury-Containing Waste On Rotary Kiln Calcination Plant

The temperature in the Rotary Kiln Calcination Plant is much higher than the volatilization temperature of mercury. During the process of co-processing hazardous waste, most of the mercury introduced into the waste is converted into elemental mercury, which is volatilized in the preheater, and finally discharged with the kiln exhaust. Only a small amount enters the kiln or clinker.

According to US PCA data, the mercury content in cement clinker is generally lower than the detection limit. The mercury content in cement products is 0.0001414 mg/g and 0.0000028-0.001 2 mg/g, which are all at a lower level.

Zhejiang University measured the mercury emission factor of Rotary Kiln Calcination Plant production line in China. The results showed that the mercury emission factors of the new dry process cement production line using bag dust removal and electrostatic precipitator were 13.8 mg/t and 22.9 mg/t, respectively. Sudagen et al. used atomic absorption spectrophotometry, oscillating dissolution and other methods to study the prevention and control of heavy metal pollution in Rotary Kiln Calcination Plant. The method can achieve 80% mercury removal efficiency, but the investment operation cost is extremely high, which is rare in the cement industry. The mercury baking furnace technology cleans the mercury-containing dust collected by the dust collector by a mercury roaster process and then returns the fly ash to the kiln system. At present, the preliminary laboratory research of this technology can make the mercury removal rate of the bag dust collector reach 95%, which needs further study. In view of the difficulties of special mercury removal technology, in actual operation, the mercury content of human kiln should be reduced from the source to ensure that mercury and its compounds in the exhaust gas meet the standard discharge.

The maximum allowable dosage of heavy metal mercury (Hg) specified in HJ662-2013 in the Technical Specification for Environmental Protection of Solid Wastes in Rotary Kiln Calcination Plant is 0.23 mg/kg. In view of this, Rotary Kiln Calcination Plant is prohibited from adding mercury-containing wastes during co-disposal, including mercury-containing lamps, switches, thermometers, and mercury-containing wastes produced in industrial production, printing, battery manufacturing, and metal mining.
